The Methodist Historical Society in Ireland was formed in 1893 to promote the study of the history and literature of early Methodism, to accumulate exact knowledge, and to provide a medium of intercourse on all related subjects. The Irish Branch of the Wesley Historical Society, which was formed in 1926, changed its name to the Wesley Historical Society in Ireland in 2003 and in 2010 the name changed to the Methodist Historical Society in Ireland. In the same year the Society obtained charitable status. Members subscribe £10 per annum and receive the Society Bulletin. Family membership is available at not less than £15.
